This is fairly thick and chewy nigorizake (cloudy sake), but it is still surprisingly dry. The aromas are bright and fresh and they show a lovely ricey and fruity combination. In the mouth, this sake has solid weight and gives the same flavors of fresh fruit and creamy fresh rice that your nose told you about. The finish has a pleasant astringency and is nicely mellow, beckoning you for another mouthful.

Takantenjin Soul of the Sensei is a special Junmai Daiginjo brewed in memory of former Takatenjin Master Toji Shokichi Hase. Toji Hase worked tirelessly at the same brewery for over 40 years which in itself is surely an achievement worth honoring. He was also one of the four famous toji known as the "Four Guardians of Heaven" of the prestigious Noto Toji Guild. (Toji guilds are small groups of notable tojis whose main objectives are to educate and train successors, to refine skills, and to uphold and improve the reputation of the sake from their region.) The brewery continues its former sensei's traditions with this clean, dry and rich brew which is considered one of Japan's most highly regarded sake. Sake Facts Quality Grade: Junmai Daiginjo Seimaibuai: 50% (50% of rice grain polished away) Rice: Yamada Nishiki Yeast: Shizuoka Nihonshu-do: 5 Alcohol: 16.8% Acidity: 1.4 Tasting Notes/Food Pairing: Aromas of clean honeydew rind, grainy rice with a touch of earth. The impact on the palate is soft and rich but not cloying. A gentle sweetness envelops the tongue while the clean, high-strung acidity does the work. It has loads of body but is able to maintain tightness and structure. While spicy honeydew and dry anise dominate up front, the finish is dry with good spicy white pepper and jasmine notes.

Rosa Regale is a unique red sparkling wine. Aromatic with a hint of rose petals and raspberries, Rosa Regale is delightfully vivacious and festive. In 1979, John and Harry Mariani, owners of the U.S. importer, Banfi Vintners, acquired a mid-18th century winery, known as Bruzzone, revitalized it and renamed the facility Vigne Regali. Here, with the same detailed care as a century ago, our skilled winemakers produce L'Ard Dolcetto d'Acqui D.O.C., a ruby-red still wine, and two exceptional sparkling wines: Banfi Brut Metodo Tradizionale Classico, and "Rosa Regale" Brachetto d'Acqui D.O.C.G., from the La Rosa single vineyard. The rare Brachetto, a semi-dry, red sparkling wine cherished by the Courts of Europe two centuries ago, owes its reincarnation to Banfi.

The Saracco winery is located in the picturesque village of Castiglione Tinella. Located in the heart of the Piedmont Region called the Langhe, which is famous for great wine and incredible cuisine. For four generations the Saracco family has been dedicated to growing the best Moscato d' Asti in the region. Grapes were first cultivated in the hills surrounding Castiglione Tinella in the 1600s. Throughout history many different grape varieties were planted but Moscato d' Asti proved to be the perfect grape for this appellation. Luigi Saracco, the great grandfather of Paolo, began growing Moscato grapes in the early 1900s. With each generation the legacy and commitment to quality continues. Paolo Saracco grew up in the vineyards and, even at an early age, had a desire to make a wine with the family name. Upon completion of his enological studies, Paolo began experimenting not only with new winemaking techniques, but also a more modern vineyard management style. The result has been consistent acclaim from the press, and more importantly, his loyal customers.

Our Languedoc Blanc is a blend of two southern varietals which complement each other: Piquepoul Blanc and Roussanne. Bordering the Etang de Thau, they have the benefit of relatively cool terroirs on which vines "stare" at the sea. This mild maritime influence, throughout the summer, enables to preserve acidity in the fruits. Both varietals being late ripening grapes, they fit the Mediterranean climatic conditions. They allow the aromatic flavors preservation until the harvest at the end of September or early October for some Piquepoul. The Piquepoul Blanc brings this crunchy and vivid character, which, blended with the Roussanne citrus fruits and white flowers notes, complete perfectly the aromatic pallet and give us a delightful volume in mouth. Perfect for aperitif between friends, our Languedoc Blanc will accompany tapas, seashells, and fish from the very close Mediterranean Sea.

In the village of Unzue, located in Navarra, Leoncio Arizu was born to Saturnino Arizu and Juana Uriz. The meaning of the family name would be a sign of the importance oak would have in his life, as Arizu means "oak grove". In 1890, a seven-year-old Leoncio arrived in Argentina and settled in Mendoza, where he was met by his uncle Balbino, already involved in the wine business. The very first vineyards owned by the Arizus, had vines of European origin and were incorporated so that the winery began form in 1901. Leoncio Arizu became the manager of the family winery. A year later, the family purchased steam-powered plowing machinery and hired highly-trained personnel from England. Leoncio Arizu married Juana Larrea in 1922. The couple would have 5 children. Saturnino Arizu, Leoncio's son, became involved in the winery. Don Leoncio Arizu passed away, and left his children his greatest heritage: His passion for wine. Years later, Saturnino and his children began the commercialization of the wines produced by the family: Luigi Bosca, a paradigm in Argentinean wines. In 1991 the original Luigi Bosca Winery, located in Lujn de Cuyo, Mendoza, was renovated and enlarged.

During the late 1980's, Alvaro Palacios travelled his native Spain selling French barriques to winemakers. But his journeys had a second purpose: to find the best place to achieve his goal of making Spain's greatest wine. He ultimately decided, in 1990, on Priorato, where he would achieve worldwide fame with "L'Ermita" and "Finca Dofi." But there had been a close contender: Bierzo. It had all the ingredients that Alvaro wantedincredibly steep hillside vineyards, distinctive terroirs and, most importantly, ancient vineyards of Mencaa unique red grape believed brought by French pilgrims during the Middle Ages. In Pursuit of the Dream. The idea of making great wine from old-vine Menca never left Alvaro, and his experience in Prioratoparticularly with L'Ermitaconvinced him of Bierzo's enormous potential. Meanwhile, his nephew Ricardo Perez had finished enological studies in Bordeaux and was travelling across Franceabsorbing everything he could about great wines. He worked the harvest at Chteau Margaux, and did internships at other Bordelais firms like Moueix (Ptrus, Trotanoy, etc.). He also visited Alvaro frequently and came to share a belief in Bierzo's potential. In 1998, the two decided on a joint venture and set out in search of the region's finest old vineyards.
